New Megazilla, Coyote Crate Engines Deliver More On- and Off-Road Power

Kim Mathers 01.30.25

There’s a simple philosophy that the Ford Performance team follows every day: no boring products – and that means no boring engines, either.

Staying true to that philosophy, we’ve engineered two new crate engines – a supercharged 7.3-liter Megazilla™ V8 and a supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 – to add even more horsepower for street and off-road enthusiasts of all skill levels. These new engines debut as a growing number of vehicle owners opt to modify their vehicles.

For drivers craving max power, we have the new supercharged 7.3-liter Megazilla 2.0 engine.

The Megazilla 2.0 is targeted to produce more than 1,000 horsepower.

Like its predecessor, Megazilla 2.0 includes forged pistons, connecting rods, and a steel crank, ported and polished cylinder heads, and upgraded valve springs. But we took things one step further by combining Megazilla with a Gen 6 3.0-liter Whipple Supercharger. Add it all together and Megazilla 2.0 is targeted to produce more than 1,000 horsepower!

Fair warning: it’s for competition-use only, like for desert racing pre-runners and dragstrip dominators.

With 800+ horsepower and targeting 615 lb.-ft. of torque, the new supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine is street-legal for vehicle enthusiasts.

For those who want something street legal, we took the Mustang Dark Horse’s 5.0-liter Coyote engine and paired it with a 3.0-liter supercharger, a reprogrammed powertrain control module, and more. The result is 800+ horsepower and targeting 615 lb.-ft. of torque, ideal for both straight-line speed and carving corners on the track.

With 800+ horsepower and targeting 615 lb.-ft. of torque, the new supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine is street-legal for vehicle enthusiasts.

Not only is the new Supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote street-legal, it also comes with an available two-year or 24,000-mile limited warranty for added peace of mind.

Both crate engines make it simple for owners to upgrade their powertrain through:

  • Easy Installation: Intuitive control pack harness simplifies process for builders.
  • Proven Performance: These engines use components found in Ford race cars.
  • Endless Possibilities: Drop them into vehicles and build your dream car.

Both the supercharged Coyote and the Megazilla 2.0 will be available to order through your local Ford dealer or from Ford Performance Parts in the fourth quarter of 2025.
