Tragic Loss of Toyota World Runners in Off-Road Accident

On August 7, 2025, influencer couple Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans, the duo behind the YouTube channel Toyota World Runners, died in a devastating off-road accident in British Columbia’s Purcell Range near Trout Lake.

That evening around 6:30 p.m. local time, rescuers from Kaslo Search and Rescue (SAR) were dispatched to a crash site near Silver Cup Ridge—a remote forestry road high in the mountains. Despite limited daylight, ground and aerial teams—including a helicopter—were swiftly mobilized.

Upon arrival, one occupant was found lifeless at the scene, while the other—disoriented and critically injured—was flown to Nakusp Hospital, where they later passed away. As of now, authorities believe the vehicle may have lost control on the rough terrain, though the exact cause remains undetermined.

The couple, who hailed from Nanaimo, B.C., were not just content creators—they were adventurers. Known for building the “world’s first Land Cruiser Chinook” in 100 days, they took their modified vehicle through South and North America, documenting their journey as they sought meaning, growth, and connection through travel.

Their passing brought a flood of tributes. Stacey’s mother, Colleen Tourout, shared a heartfelt post:

“With unimaginable heartache… we lost them both tragically succumbing to injuries in an off-road accident on Aug 7, 2025, in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much. Please keep us and them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating end to an amazing Love Story. They are together forever as we knew they would always be.”

Influencer friends and fans also voiced their grief. One fellow content creator, Shaun from The Story Till Now, recalled speaking to Matthew just a day before the tragedy and lamented that “they tragically passed away that very next day in an accident, and I’m just devastated over it”. Another, Colin Stuart of Dirt Theory, who was reportedly with them during the crash, said he “did everything in his power to save them”. Many online commenters offered touching farewells, such as:

“We wished this episode would have lasted forever… Hope you’re on an amazing trail leading to an even better campsite. Rest easy to the coolest people we never met.” The Sun

Kaslo SAR emphasized the treacherous nature of remote terrain and urged future explorers to prepare meticulously for emergencies.

Their adventurous spirit, shared love, and inspiring content touched many. Their story reminds us both of life’s fragility and the power of following one’s dreams.
