Another day, more insanity on Youtube. Travis Pastrana won a C8 Corvette Z06 in Cleetus McFarland’s “Freedom 500” event (Taxi racing) and then traded it in for a Stingray. What do you do with a free Corvette? Well, if you’re the world’s most famous daredevil, you jump it 110 feet.
The team calculated that they’d need to get the car to about 70 MPH leading up to the jump, so they’d make the gap but not overshoot the landing. The road was a narrow dirt path through the woods, so not exactly an easy feat.
The video is worth a watch, and spoiler alert – they landed the jump. The Vette’s rear wheels clip the top of the jump but lands safely.
Funny enough, Pastrana was able to use the onboard performance data recorder to track speed, throttle input, and brake, giving them information on how they can land it completely next time. Only in 2025 can you utilize onboard, realtime tech to more effectively jump a Corvette.
