Starting this summer, Chevrolet will offer the Trail Boss trim on the 2026 Silverado EV. While this is already available on the Colorado and Silverado, this is the first time Chevy’s gone electric off-road.
“The Trail Boss trim has been popular since it launched on the 2019 Silverado,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “Adding it to the Silverado EV brings familiar off-road capability to the electric version.”
Off-Road Features
The electric truck should be pretty capable off-road thanks to a whole bunch of tech goodies to assist and a higher ride height. According to chief engineer Joe Roy, the Silverado EV Trail Boss delivers similar performance to other Trail Boss models. It features a 2-inch suspension lift, increasing ground clearance by 24% compared to the base EV. The coil suspension includes a hydraulic rebound control system for rougher terrain.
The Trail Boss includes a Terrain drive mode, which adjusts torque delivery and enhances four-wheel steering at low speeds. Additional drive modes include off-road mode and Sidewinder mode. Sidewinder allows diagonal movement by turning all four wheels in the same direction, useful for navigating tight or uneven areas.
With the extended-range battery pack, the Trail Boss can tow up to 12,500 pounds and carry a payload of up to 2,100 pounds. It delivers up to 725 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque.

- A front fascia designed for better approach angles
- 35-inch all-terrain tires with 18-inch wheels
- Red front tow hooks
- Trail Boss-specific badging and interior
- Auxiliary switches for accessories like lights
