Lexus has introduced the updated 2026 RZ, its battery-electric SUV, with several technical and performance improvements. The refreshed model delivers more power, longer driving range, and faster charging capabilities. A new high-performance trim, the RZ 550e F SPORT AWD, joins the lineup.
Lineup and Powertrain Updates
First launched in 2023, the RZ was Lexus’ first globally available electric vehicle built on a dedicated EV platform. The 2026 update introduces a revised electric system with three available powertrains:
- RZ 350e FWD: 221 horsepower
- RZ 450e AWD: 308 horsepower
- RZ 550e F SPORT AWD: 402 horsepowe
The RZ 550e F SPORT AWD is the most powerful model to date and comes with dual high-output electric motors and a sport-oriented design.
M Mode and Driving Dynamics
The 550e F SPORT AWD introduces “M Mode,” an electronic system that simulates manual gear shifting via paddle shifters. This aims to give the driver more control over power delivery and create a more engaging driving experience.
Range and Charging
The 2026 RZ uses the North American Charging Standard (NACS) and supports AC charging with a new 11-kW onboard charger (up from 7 kW previously). Under ideal conditions, DC fast charging can bring the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
Estimated driving ranges under ideal conditions:
- RZ 350e FWD: ~300 miles (18-inch tires)
- RZ 450e AWD: ~260 miles (18-inch tires)
- RZ 550e F SPORT AWD: ~225 miles (20-inch tires)
Exterior and Interior
The RZ 550e F SPORT AWD includes blacked-out trim, a unique front grille, and 20-inch wheels with aerodynamic covers. It will be available in a new solid light gray color called “Wind.” Seven single-tone and four two-tone exterior options are available across the RZ range.
Inside, the 550e F SPORT AWD features Black Ultrasuede® with blue stitching, a laser-etched pattern on the door trim, and aluminum pedals. The updated Dynamic Sky™ panoramic roof can shift between transparent and opaque modes.
Lexus also adds an ambient lighting feature with moving shadow patterns on the door panels, continuing its “Time in Design” interior theme introduced with the 2023 model.
Availability
The 2026 RZ will be assembled in Motomachi, Japan, and is expected to go on sale later in 2025. Pricing and full specifications will be announced closer to launch.
