Honda today demonstrated in a new video the incredible ruggedness of the all-new 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport by hanging three unmodified Passport TrailSports end-to-end from the vehicle’s stout front recovery points using a 140-foot long crane.
The new Passport TrailSport and TrailSport Elite are the first Honda light truck models equipped with exposed and easily accessible heavy-duty front recovery points. The two bright orange cast iron front recovery points were intentionally designed as a closed loop recovery system for additional safety and are each capable of supporting twice the Passport’s weight. Moreover, the recovery points are powder coated to resist corrosion and engineered to break away in the event of a front collision. This patented design is a world’s first and enables the Passport to target top-of-class safety ratings.
Demonstration Specs
- Three 2026 Passport TrailSports hung from the crane were built* at the Honda Alabama Auto Plant, with all fluids drained and transmissions fixed in neutral.
- The recovery points on the first (highest) Passport were holding over 14,000 lbs.
- The front bumper of the first Passport TrailSport reached a height of 100 feet.

All 2026 Passport TrailSport models also feature a trailer hitch with a 7-pin connector that integrates two stout rear recovery points and helps protect the rear fascia from off-road damage.
