• Busy season-launch concludes after two days of testing at Circuit Paul Ricard
• Prologue brings 57 cars representing 10 manufacturers to south of France
• Opening six-hour race just one month away
GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS is on course for an exceptionally competitive 2025 campaign following the conclusion of this week’s Prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard (10/11 March).
The traditional pre-season event saw 57 cars representing 10 manufacturers undertake two days of testing in mixed weather conditions. Monday began with the rare sight of rain at Circuit Paul Ricard, ensuring the wet compound Pirelli tyre was put to good use, before drier conditions prevailed on Tuesday.
The weather did not prevent teams from undertaking significant running, with Lamborghini squad Barwell Motorsport completing a total of 281 laps across the two days. The #111 CSA Racing McLaren topped the times, taking advantage of a dry track to post a 1m53.602s on Tuesday afternoon. Grasser Racing (Lamborghini), VSR (Lamborghini) and GetSpeed (Mercedes-AMG) also produced session-topping efforts during the event.
The Prologue marked the series debut for the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, the latter of which will contest this season’s Endurance Cup with Steller Motorsport. The British squad was one of three new names at the test, with Nordique Racing (Mercedes-AMG) and Verstappen.com Racing (Aston Martin) also joining the series for the first time.
With the Prologue complete attention now shifts to the first competitive encounter of 2025, which will see the paddock reconvene at Circuit Paul Ricard on 11–13 April. The French venue will stage a six-hour Endurance Cup race that runs from 18:00 on Saturday until midnight, reprising the popular format used between 2015 and 2023.
It promises to be a spectacular season-opening weekend, with seven races and close to 12 hours of competitive action as well as entertainment for the whole family. Tickets begin at just 15€ and include paddock access, entry to the pit walk and autograph session, grandstand seating, and much more.
In addition to GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, the event will also feature the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli, GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club and Lamborghini Super Trofeo, as well as demo runs from vintage Formula 1 machinery and GT1 Sports Club.
