Austrian racing driver Jorden Dolischka claimed victory in Formula Woman’s Nations Cup Qualifiers at Dubai Autodrome after three closely fought qualifying sessions on 12th December.
English drivers Steph Sore and Kirsty Mansell joined Jorden on the podium by taking second and third positions and will join all the remaining qualifiers competing in the inaugural Formula Woman Nations Cup finale back at the Dubai Autodrome in May 2025.
On a unique day for motorsport, we witnessed race action in the form of a time trial set-up at the Dubai Autodrome circuit for 40 of some of the best female racing drivers from across the globe all in identical Radical SR3 racing cars.
Jorden produced a superb overall performance throughout the adrenalin sapping day, to come out on top of the highly anticipated Formula Woman Global Nations Cup qualifiers. She will no doubt now be one of the favourites for the main finale, scheduled to take place in Dubai next May, after setting the fastest recorded lap was of 1:04.105.
The English participating drivers were clearly on the pace too and both Steph Sore and Kirsty Mansell finished second and third respectively and praise should also be mentioned for UAE drivers, Manon Robillard, Sofia Necchi and Darcy Mead, who were all placed near the top of the qualifying times.
The qualifing event this week was made up of 38 selected drivers from almost 30 separate countries, which is a hugely impressive global cross section, that is down to the Formula Woman organisation and their extraordinary success of sourcing drivers who would most likely have never had the opportunity for competing at such a high level.
Formula Woman Founder and CEO, Graeme Glew, reflected on the event, saying: “Congratulations to Jorden on an outstanding result. She was a fully deserving winner, and the fact she recorded the fastest lap time in all three sessions, speaks volumes about her overall performance.
“There was some very impressive driving on show throughout the day and all the qualifiers will be delighted that they have made it through to Formula Woman Nations Cup.
“There is so much talent within Formula Woman, and we are extremely proud to have hosted such a successful event, here in Dubai. However, nothing stands still and we have already switched our focus to the main event when we return in May next year. Dubai is an inspiring and exciting location for motorsport, and we are committed to continuing to grow the Formula Woman brand on a global level while using the impressive facilities available to us here.”
Victorious Jorden Dolischka was clearly thrilled with her success and excited about the future, especially the FW Nations Cup finale in May next year. She said, “I am really happy to be part of the FW ‘family’ and I was really surprised that I ended up first in the event, including all three of the timing sessions. To be honest I was nervous because several other girls had experienced more training at the Dubai Autodrome track as well as time in a Radical racing car.
“The coaches we were given helped me hugely and tried to get the very best out of me. I confident that I’m a good driver, but I always strive to improve every single time I’m out in the car. There is always room for improvement! I am also so glad and grateful that my family and friends are there to help and support me, whenever they can.
“I want to improve for sure! And yes, for now I am at the top of the qualifiers, but things can change quickly and the girls I was competing against will not sleep and will try to improve too and win. So, I will continue to work on my fitness and concentration levels and will try to get more testing time in a Radical prior to May next year. Hopefully this is something FW can help me with. Clearly getting sponsors on board will certainly help me too, as having a budget in place will always help my racing ambitions.
“Formula Woman has been wonderful and it offers me to the chance to race in cars for a realistic cost and enables me to see observe my own ability. They give me this wonderful opportunity and indeed that goes for every girl regardless of background and upbringing. Formula Woman is an incredible porthole to get into motorsport and improve all aspects of racing.
“Ideally my dreams would be to race at the Le Mans 24h, to test more fast cars and to make my own history! I want people to see that an Austrian girl can also make a big story in motorsport and I want others to realise that anyone can make it if the dedication and ability is there, you don’t have to be rich, just prepared to work hard and listen to your peers.
The Formula Woman Nations Cup in May next year will mark a truly special event in motorsport with its all-female grid and format. More details about the Dubai event and other Formula Woman information will be announced soon.
