Cadillac Racing unveils a power lineup of V-Series.R liveries in 2025

January 17, 2025

Cadillac Racing is ready to hit the track with the V-Series.R Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) and Hypercar race cars. The V-Series.R is the first Cadillac prototype race car to use a hybrid powertrain, set to compete in its third year of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) competition.

Cadillac Racing will field three entries in the 2025 IMSA season. The No. 10 and No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.Rs and the familiar No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R. The heralded Wayne Taylor Racing makes an exciting return to the Cadillac Racing family after fielding the previous-generation Cadillac DPi-V.R in IMSA for the 2017-2020 racing seasons, earning three Rolex 24 At Daytona titles (2017, 2019, 2020), two Petit Le Mans victories (2018, 2020) and a win at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring (2017).

The No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R, which is operated by Action Express Racing, has been a mainstay in Cadillac Racing’s roster since it first ran the DPi-V.R for the 2017 IMSA season. In that time, the No. 31 took the 2018, 2021 and 2023 IMSA Driver and Team championships, and won the Rolex 24 At Daytona (2018) and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring (2023).

All three race cars made their 2025 debut in front of fans this week ahead of the annual Roar Before the 24. The final pre-season test, held January 17-19, serves as a precursor to the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona — one of the most prestigious endurance racing events in the world.

The No. 31 is wearing its familiar Whelen red livery and integrates new elements of the classic multi-color Cadillac V-badge pattern on its front fenders. The No. 10 and 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.Rs both have a newly designed chrome finish and also integrate the familiar Cadillac V-badge pattern.

Cadillac Racing has expanded in the FIA WEC series to run two V-Series.Rs in the 2025 season. Championship-winning Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA recently debuted its pair of striking gold Cadillac V-Series.Rs, which will hit the track at the Qatar 1812km on February 28.

Racing provides a testbed for Cadillac to transfer knowledge and technology between race cars and production vehicles. It allows Cadillac to compete directly with leading luxury and performance vehicle manufacturers from around the world and provides a showcase for Cadillac’s technology and engineering.

The Cadillac V-Series.R race car was co-developed by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing and chassis constructor Dallara. It’s powered by a purpose-built Cadillac 5.5-liter dual-overhead-cam V8 engine and represents the third generation of Cadillac prototype race cars, a lineage that began with the Cadillac Northstar LMP that debuted in 2000.
